Drew Dowsett


Drew Dowsett joined Shorenstein in 2002. He is responsible for oversight and direction of the company’s accounting, audit and tax functions, including budgeting, forecasting and treasury services.

Mr. Dowsett is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of The California Society of CPAs. He is also a member of NAREC, an association for real estate finance professionals.

Prior to joining Shorenstein, Mr. Dowsett was chief financial officer for Milepost Industries and prior to that served as chief financial officer for The Swig Company. Mr. Dowsett has also worked as controller for The Charles Schwab Corporation and as an audit manager for Deloitte & Touche.

Mr. Dowsett graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S.

Josh Frieman

Prime Group

As a Principal in the San Francisco office of Prime Group, Josh Frieman leads Prime’s accounting, investor relations and administrative team. He also serves as Prime’s Chief Compliance Officer. Prime Group has two lines of business: buying, owning and managing large apartment communities in the Western United States and, through Prime Finance, buying and originating commercial real estate loans throughout the United States. Josh joined Prime Group in 2005 and has been involved in all facets of real estate investment, finance and administration including leadership roles in over $3 billion of real estate transactions. Prior to that, he was an advisor to distressed businesses, overseeing numerous restructurings and liquidations. Earlier in his career, Josh practiced corporate law with Latham & Watkins and served as the General Counsel for a start-up technology company. Josh graduated with honors from University of California at Berkeley and Harvard Law School.

John Ginochio

Ohana Real Estate Investors

John has responsibility for managing OREI’s overall legal & tax structuring, internal controls and all aspects of the finance and accounting function, including financial reporting, planning, accounting, treasury management, fund-level financing, while managing key internal and external relationships. He also oversees human resources, information technology, risk management and serves as Chief Compliance Officer. John brings 15 years of extensive real estate and fund experience, most recently at Prologis, where he held a variety of leadership roles in operations, FP&A, and financial reporting. He also completed international assignments in Amsterdam and Mexico City. Prior to Prologis, John worked for PwC where he was Audit Manager in the San Francisco real estate practice, serving both privately-held and SEC-registered clients. John received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a licensed CPA (inactive) in the state of California.

Jakob Gron

Merlone Geier Partners

Jakob is a Vice President on the Capital Markets and Finance team at Merlone Geier Partners. His primary responsibilities include coordination of the firm’s accounting function, financial reporting and tax compliance as well as oversight of treasury management and internal controls. Prior to joining Merlone Geier Partners, Jakob held multiple financial roles at Greenbriar Homes Communities and worked for several years in the real estate tax group of Ernst & Young LLP. Jakob holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the Copenhagen Business School and is a licensed CPA.

Peter Susko

Homestead Capital USA

Peter Susko is CFO/CCO at Homestead Capital. He has 35 years of experience in investment management, real estate, law and accounting. Previously, he was Portfolio Manager and a member of the Investment Committee at Swift Real Estate Partners and a Director with Deutsche Bank/RREEF, where he was a member of the transactions and portfolio management groups. In addition, he spent 15 years as CFO and investment manager of three family offices, practiced tax and corporate law and established an investment, tax and legal consulting business. Mr. Susko holds a BA from the University of Rochester, JD from UCLA and MBA from UC Berkeley and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Tony Verdon

Belveron Real Estate Partners, LLC

Mr. Verdon oversees finance and accounting functions as well as legal entity formation and structure and facilitating debt and equity capital transactions. Prior to joining Belveron, Tony was a Portfolio Manager at Clairvue Capital Partners where he was responsible for overseeing a portfolio of debt and equity investments in various real estate asset classes. Prior to joining Clairvue, he held Controller and Vice President positions with various real estate private equity firms. He began his career in KPMG’s audit practice where he focused on construction and real estate clients, and is a licensed CPA (inactive). Tony holds dual under-graduate degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from St. Mary’s College of California, and an MBA from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and spends the weekends trail running.
