Kristin Beach

Playground Global

As Chief Financial Officer, Kristin Beach is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Playground and its fund. She has over 20 years of finance and operating experience. Prior to joining Playground, Kristin was vice president of finance at Glynn Capital. She was also vice president of finance at Versant Ventures, and had earlier served as their controller. Previously, Kristin was controller for Enterprise Fleet Management, a division of Enterprise Rent-a-Car.

Amy Berliner

Andreessen Horowitz

Amy Berliner is a Partner at Andreessen Horowitz responsible for running the finance team and reporting to the limited and general partners.

Amy has been in the venture capital industry for over 20 years. Prior to Andreessen Horowitz, she was VP of Finance at 5AM Ventures, a small healthcare fund, where she was responsible for running and maintaining the operations side of the firm. Before that she was Controller at Mobius Venture Capital, a firm that had over 2.4B under management, where she streamlined the finance function by consolidating and modernizing the software systems and building a strong finance team. Prior to entering venture capital, she worked at PwC in the venture capital practice as a tax manager.

Brett Cummings

Partner & CFO

Brett Cummings is Partner and Chief Financial Officer at 8VC. Brett has been in the venture capital industry since 2007. At 8VC, Brett is responsible for all financial, operational and legal matters of the firm and funds. Prior to joining 8VC, Brett was CFO/COO of Formation 8. Brett spent five years as CFO at CMEA Capital. At CMEA, Brett managed six funds with $1.2 billion in assets under management. Previously, Brett was on the Audit and Business Advisory Services team at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in New York and San Francisco, primarily focusing on insurance and investment management clients.

Brett received dual degrees in Finance and Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Brett earned his CPA in 2006 and is a member of the AICPA and the California CPA Society.

Tony Di Bona

Alloy Ventures

Tony Di Bona is the Chief Financial Officer and a General Partner of Alloy Ventures, as well as a founding member of the firm. Tony is in charge of all finance, accounting, and computer operations for Alloy, and assists in financial due diligence. He also assists portfolio companies with their accounting, financial reporting, and computing systems. Tony’s career in venture capital started in 1988, and co-founded Alloy Ventures in 1996. Previously, Tony served as CFO for an Australian retailer, helping the company open its U.S. operation. He received a BEc, majoring in accounting and law, at Sydney University (1982). His other interests are photography, as well as hardware and software design of embedded computer systems.

Marty Eng

CFO & VP of Administration

Marty joined WTI in 2005 from Oracle/PeopleSoft where he was VP of Finance and VP and Corporate Treasurer. He previously held treasury and tax positions with CNF, Inc., Applied Materials, Inc. and Ernst & Young. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of California at Davis, completed graduate work at the University of Southern California’s Marshall Graduate School of Business and received an MBA in taxation from Golden Gate University. He also serves on the Board of the West Coast Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association (PECFOA) is an active member of the National Venture Capital Association’s CFO Task Force . He is a California CPA (inactive).

Mike Franks is a Managing Director focused on alternative investment clients at First Republic Bank. He previous worked within the industry at Silicon Valley Bank.

Todd Forrest

Todd Forrest joined Nokia Growth Partners in 2015, after three years with JH Partners as CFO & COO. Todd spent ten years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, a venture capital firm with $1 billion under management, as a Managing Director & CFO. Mr. Forrest played a key role in the structuring and negotiation of Hummer Winblad’s investments. Mr. Forrest was also responsible for Hummer Winblad’s financial, legal and operational matters and investor relations. Prior to joining Hummer Winblad, Mr. Forrest was the Vice President - Finance & Administration at Critical Path, Inc., a publicly traded software company, and a member of its Executive Staff. Mr. Forrest worked closely with the corporate and business development teams in structuring multiple acquisitions and key partnership agreements. Mr. Forrest oversaw worldwide financial planning, tax strategy, accounting, reporting, management information systems, treasury, and facilities. Prior to Critical Path, Mr. Forrest was an audit manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he delivered advisory services to multi-national public and private companies primarily in the technology, telecommunications, and financial services industries. Mr. Forrest is a founding Board member of the Northern California chapters of the Financial Executives Alliance and Private Equity CFO Organization. Mr. Forrest is a CPA and received a B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University.

Harold Friedman

Polaris Partners

Harold Friendman is the CFO of  Polaris Partners. He previously served as CFO of VantagePoint Partners. Harold joined VantagePoint from Acacia Venture Partners, where he spent five years as Vice President of Finance. Prior to Acacia, he was Assistant Controller for Lightspeed Venture Partners, a diversified venture capital and private equity firm in San Francisco, and a Staff Accountant and Assistant Controller for Weiss, Peck & Greer in both San Francisco and New York. Harold began his career as a staff accountant for BDO Seidman, a certified public accounting firm in New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University (BSM).

Phil Jensen

Paul Capital

Phil Jensen joined Paul Capital in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for overseeing all accounting and tax activities, investor relations and services, information technology and the management of the firm’s administration. Mr. Jensen brings over 25 years of experience as a senior financial executive. His background includes the financial leadership of several organizations, such as Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals, McKesson Corporation and Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Jensen received his B.S. from San Francisco State University.

Robert Keppler

Saints Capital

Robert Keppler, Chief Financial Officer, previously worked as CFO of Centennial Ventures for ten years. Centennial Ventures is a firm with over $500 million of capital under active management. Prior to Centennial, Mr. Keppler worked for 18 years at Total Petroleum (North America) LTD., a multi-billion dollar public petroleum company. Mr. Keppler concluded his career at Total Petroleum in the positions of Vice President, Controller and Treasurer. Mr. Keppler started his career as a certified public accountant with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Mr. Keppler received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Capital University. He also completed the Executive Management Development Program at the University of Virginia Graduate Business School and the Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver.

Robert May

Industry Ventures

Robert is a Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Industry Ventures. Prior to joining Industry Ventures, Robert worked as a Consultant for Standish Management and led the Palo Alto office. Robert has over 25 years of experience in Finance, Operations and Management with 17 of those years specifically in Venture Capital. Previously, Robert was the COO and CFO for Founders Fund in San Francisco, CA. Prior to Founders Fund, Robert spent four years as the CFO of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners. Robert started his career in Venture Capital as the Controller for Mohr, Davidow Ventures. Robert was also a Senior Financial Analyst at Hewlett-Packard and Production Control Analyst at Drexler Technologies.

Neil Ruthven

Founders Fund

Neil joined Founders Fund in late 2012 and is the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. He leads the Finance team and is responsible for the financial reporting of the firm’s investment funds as well as the day-to-day finance and management company matters. Prior to joining Founders Fund, Neil was the Controller at VantagePoint Capital Partners, a leading global investor in energy, innovation and efficiency. He was previously the Controller at 3i, a leading international investor focused on private equity, infrastructure and debt management, and prior to that the Accounting Manager at investment banking firm Merriman Curhan Ford. Neil began his career at Ernst & Young LLP where he served as an Audit Manager in the financial services group. He is a registered member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and received his Bachelors degree with honors from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Julie Schneider is a Managing Director at First Republic Bank, focused on the Private Equity sector. Prior to that, she worked extensively in the alternative investment sphere as a Director at Silicon Valley Bank.

Michele Shahroody

Michele Shahroody is the VP of Finance at Golden Gate Capital. Prior to joining Golden Gate Capital, Michele was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers,LLP where she advised clients on tax matters associated with transactions and financial and tax reporting. Michele holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Davis, a Masters in Taxation degree from George Washington University, and is a California CPA.
